Mr_Doerr.jpg (73610 bytes)"The City of League City's Wastewater Department received a national
award from Water Environment Federation for safety. Part of our ability
to receive that award is the fact that we no longer have personnel cleaning
clarifiers, pulling hoses around, or standing awkwardly on the weirs or walls
of clarifiers to hose them down. The City used to have a number of
lower
back injuries and strains from pulling around the hoses used to clean the
clarifier. Since the installation of the algae sweep mechanisms on the 6
clarifiers at the Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant we have had
no such injuries. I attribute this in part to the brush cleaning mechanisms
installed on the clarifiers. I think any city or municipality that is safety
conscious should look into obtaining this equipment as it can reduce
on-the-job injuries and lost time accidents. While your equipment is not
the sole reason for this safety award, I credit in part the Algae Sweep
Automation clarifier brush cleaning mechanism in allowing us to go three
years without a lost time accident."

"Because of regulatory requirements, it became necessary to replace our final effluent chlorination system with ultra violet light disinfection.
This work was completed in November of 1993."

"As spring arrived, we began to notice that the algae which grows on our secondary clarifier weirs, channels, and baffles would slough
off and accumulate on the racks of UV light tubes. Towards late spring the problem became so bad that we had to pull the lights out
of the channels at least once per week to clean off the algae. In addition, we could not even manually brush the secondary clarifier weirs
and channels as we had done in previous years, because the debris would immediately clog the light tubes.

We discussed with our engineers the possibility of installing filters or screens in front of the UV system to try to remove the algae, but
the success seemed questionable, and the cost immense.

"I remembered having seen your equipment demonstrated at the WEF annual conference and pulled the information I had received
about your company from my files. I felt that if your brush system really worked, and it was possible to keep the clumps and strings of
algae from forming at the clarifiers, we might have a solution to our problem."

"It appears now that your company's brush system did indeed solve the problem. The weirs, channels, and baffles in the secondary
clarifiers are remarkably free from algae buildup. In fact, we can now see the original colors of the channels and weir. The main
advantage, though, is that since the brushes have been installed, we have not cleaned algae off of the UV light tubes, and we have
saved a lot of manpower hours by not having to manually brush what your system now does automatically."

"I would also like to express my appreciation at the quickness your company showed in the design and installation of the brush system.
Had the system not been installed as quickly as it was, we would have wasted tremendous amounts of time during the summer months
cleaning the UV tubes and the secondary clarifier."

"Before we installed the sweeps we had to stop discharging until we cleaned the weirs and baffles by hand. Cleaning the surfaces by
hand would take approximately three hours and by the time the water came over the weir was approximately another three hours. With
the sweeps, we never have to stop discharging. Also, we have eliminated a safety hazard by not having our operators walking around
the clarifier cleaning the weirs by hand."

"Customer service from the Ford Hall Company has been outstanding. I was very impressed when I called you for service late one
afternoon and the next morning a company service representative had traveled from Lexington, Kentucky and was at my facility in
Forest, Mississippi."

"Installing algae sweeps has been great for our overall operations in time, labor and money."

"I would recommend algae sweeps and the Ford Hall Company to anyone."
